Where are we going in 2011?
January, 2011: RILA: TTS will be the Silver Logistics Sponsor at RILA, (www.Rila.org), in Orlando, February 20-23, at the Gaylord Palms. ( http://www.gaylordhotels.com/palms-home.html) You can expect to see David Miller and JB "on the floor and by the door".
April, 2011: TIA Annual Meeting: Our traveling "Trends in Transportation" Panel will again open the 33rd Annual Transportation Intermediaries Association Convention and Trade Show (www.tianet.org) in, you guessed it, Mickeyland. The Convention will be held at the Lowe's Royal Pacific Resort (http://www.loewshotels.com/en/Royal-Pacific-Resort) and, if you are with JB, there will be some wonderful Disney Dining. Our Panel, "Shipper's Rule", will be Thursday morning from 8-9:45am. In the afternoon, I will also host the Intermodal Panel from 2-3:30pm. If you are a Broker or 3PL, this is a NOT to miss Convention.
Success at 2010 Networking Events
The Columbus Region Logistics Council wrapped up a successful year of networking in November.
The four 2011 networking events enjoyed record-breaking attendance , drawing more than 600 people to the Audubon Center, Station 67, Huntington Park and the River Club.
"Through these events, we are moving toward our focus to meet the needs of our logistics community," said Mindy Price, CRLC member and principal consultant, Direct Effect Solutions, Inc. Price was involved in planning the networking events.
"Over the last year, we have really tried to create forums for sharing information and allowing participants to be engaged with each other. As a council we need to be responsive to the community needs and desires with these events," Price said.
The Council completed a survey regarding the logistics networking events this year which showed that the logistics community values the efforts. Respondents said that next year they would like more information on state and local tax issues. "This is something we'll definitely keep in mind as we are planning for next year's events," Price said.
Wayne Johnson, Greg Friede, Andrew Spears and I joined good friend Joe Gearin at Nears with our Trends in Transportation Panel. Here we are at the Seafood Buffet along with Personal Chauffeur Bill Walsh sharing in those delectable delights. I am eating two Hot Dogs with Corn on the Cob!
